Our Players
John Luter (C, 2B, OF)
John Luter is an original "Black Sox" player, beginning in 1997. He played at the University of Vermont in the late-1980s and was a core player for the Sox for 25 years. His promise to "not quit playing until the year he doesn't hit a home run" turned into "until the year he doesn't steal a base" which turned into "until the year he doesn't get a hit" kept his spot on the roster for many years.
John O'Connor (P, IF, OF)
Johnny O is one of the Black Sox' most consistent pitchers, beginning in 1997. He holds the all-time league record for the most-innings pitched. A secretive teammate, no one knows what he does off the field.
Daren Cassani (P, 2B)
Daren created the Black Sox and gathered players from around the Burlington, Vermont area that he played with both in high school, as well as at the University of Vermont. "Whammy" also serves as bus driver of the Black Sox bus.
Dana Perrotte (P, IF)
Dana is a long-time Black Sox player after his career at the University of Vermont and playing professionally in Canada. Currently our oldest consistent player, Dana often hits leadoff, proving older players can still rake.
Luke Goyette (P, OF)
Luke joined the Black Sox in its early days, and has been a consistent and productive player for years. As a division 1 high school coach, Luke helps the other Black Sox players figure out what's wrong when they strike out.
Tim O'Day (C, IF, OF)
Tim became one of the most versatile players for the Black Sox, playing most positions besides on the mound. He is not allowed to throw batting practice for fear of putting too many teammates on the DL.
Algenis Garcia (3B, SS)
Al covers the left-side of the infield for the Black Sox, bringing a style from his native Dominican Republic. A productive hitter, and the team's professional barber, Al has been a great addition to the team for years.
Jeff Barry (OF)
Jeff has led off for the Black Sox for years, (except for the famous "draw the lineup out of a hat" experiment) following his college career at the University of Vermont (where he became Vermont's first-ever America East Conference Player of the Year) and was subsequently drafted by the Kansas City Royals.
Chris Richard (C, 1B)
Before exiting to assistant-coach the Vermont Lake Monsters, Chris played for years on the Black Sox. He was drafted by the Montreal Expos prior to signing a more lucrative contract with the Black Sox.
Tim Paquette (SS)
The Black Sox stole Tim from the over-35 team that he was too good for, and he anchored the infield at shortstop for years.
Scott O'Brien (DH, 1B)

Playing in his first Black Sox game ever while wearing Carhartts and homering over the right field fence, OB was a reliable and consistent player for years on the Black Sox. That is, except on the mound.
Kenny Celeste (3B, DH, P)
Kenny, hailing from the Dominican Republic via Puerto Rico, added some needed power to the Black Sox lineup. He likes to yell "plakata" after hitting a game-winning homer.
Leo Besaw (OF)
Leo joined the team after playing softball and baseball for years, but knew something was missing...the Black Sox. He is a leader on the team and organizes many meetings to discuss strategy at The Pour House, the Black Sox' off-field home.
Mark Dickerson (P)
Mark stepped into the Black Sox rotation after a college career at Middlebury, followed by a year or two pitching for another team in the league. As the league's social media and statistics director, he keeps the Green Mountain League looking good.
